Pharmacokinetics, dosage regimen and in vitro plasma protein binding of intramuscular levofloxacin in buffalo calves

The pharmacokinetics of levofloxacin following its single intramuscular administration (3 mg/kg) was investigated in six male buffalo calves. Peak plasma level of 2.95 ± 0.13μg/ml was observed at 1 h and the drug level above MIC90  in plasma was detected up to 12 h of administration. The bioavailability was 68.1 ± 5.4% and levofloxacin was bound to the plasma proteins to the extent of 19.1 ± 1....

Comparison of plasma progesterone assay in women by competitive protein binding (CPB) and radioimmunoassay (RIA).

Plasma progesterone levels during the follicular and luteal phases were compared when measured simultaneously by competitive protein binding (using guinea pig sera as binding agent) and radioimmunoassay (antiserum against progesterone-11-alpha-succinyl bovine serum albumin in rabbits), the values obtained were significantly different within each technique, depending on whether previous thin-lay...

Progesterone-binding plasma protein of pregnant guinea pig. Purification and characterization.

The progesterone-binding plasma protein (PBP) of the pregnant guinea pig has been purified to homogeneity. The molecular weight, 77,500 (as determined by equilibrium sedimentation and sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), the a&,,,, 4.5, the optical extinction coefficient at 280 mn E:k$mglml, 0.49, the pH<, 3.6 (isoelectrofocusing), the Stokes radius (47 A), and the partia...

A specific membrane binding protein for progesterone in rat brain: sex differences and induction by estrogen.

Progesterone conjugated to bovine serum albumin (BSA) was used as a probe to study sex differences and the effects of hormonal status on binding of progesterone to crude synaptosomal membrane preparations (P2) derived from the mediobasal hypothalamic-anterior hypothalamic-preoptic area or the corpus striatum. Binding of 125I-labeled BSA linked to progesterone at the 11 position of the steroid (...
